Energizing Education!

RHMS students learn about renewable energy sources and conservation practices at Kortright.
RHMS Grade's 3 and 4 students continued their “Conservation of Energy and Resources” education with a visit to the Kortright Centre for Conservation.  With the help of our knowledgeable guides, we discovered many renewable sources of energy such as wind, water, and the sun.  We were happy to see the different ways that Kortright uses wind and solar energy to power their facilities.

Our guides shared cool information on current renewable energy technology, such as wind turbines and solar panels.  Some children were able to use their own kinetic energy to pump water into a reservoir.  That was tough work!  Other children used anemometers to measure wind speed.  We ended our time at Kortright hiking through the beautiful woods, using our energy to reconnect with nature.
