Congratulations to Mia who placed first in our Grade 7 category for her outstanding Science Expo Project for the 2020-2021 school year.
The winning experiment exhibited a sensor created to remind people to physically distance. The main materials used were an Arduino UNO, an ultrasonic range sensor, and a 5v buzzer. The accuracy of this sensor was tested for each foot (in total 8 feet) and 3 times for each direction (infront, behind, to the right, and to the left). It was worn for 1 hour for 5 days to see if it actually helped reduce the amount of close proximity physical interactions. When the results were gathered, the data showed that the amount of close interactions were reduced by 53%.
RHMS would like to acknowledge all of our Grade 7 and 8 students for their hard work showcasing the superb projects in this year’s Science Expo.
