It is important now more than ever to continue to find ways to stay active and maintain your health, both physically and mentally.
Our RHMS Physical Education staff will be holding weekly virtual active sessions from grades 3 to 8 to keep all of our students moving! Each session will consist of a proper warm – up, activity component and cool - down.
The Importance of a Warm - Up
It increases the temperature and flexibility of your muscles, and helps you be more efficient and safer during your workout. A proper warm - up before your activity component, allows a gradual increase in heart rate.
During our Active Sessions, our activity components will consist of a variety of activities such as fitness exercises, in motion missions, dance, yoga, and sport – specific activities.
The Importance of a Cool - Down
After an activity component, the purpose of the cool - down is to return your heart rate close to resting. A proper cool - down can help to reduce muscle soreness and speed up the recovery process after the activity component. We will also incorporate Mindfulness activities as part of the cool – down, whenever possible.
