'Tis The Season

Grade 8 students were inspired by past images of Richmond Hill Village during the holiday season. They looked at photos from previous holiday displays and Santa Claus parades to capture the feel of Yonge Street in December. Some students that live in the community were our experts in picking the setting of the artwork which is now displayed in theatre windows of the Richmond Hill Centre of the Performing Arts. 

 

Students worked collectively to create a colour palette that would foster the brilliance of holiday lights and the calm, quiet feeling of freshly fallen snow. Our artists felt that children today only focus on remembering the past or look towards the future. They decided that for their work, they would focus on appreciating the present.
