And The Winners Are…

RHMS students compete at the York Regional Science and Technology Fair.
Last Saturday, our grade 7 and 8 Science Expo winners competed at the York Regional Science and Technology Fair. The Fair is open to students from grades 7-12 from all of York Region. The projects this year covered a variety of topics, from silver nanoparticles to indoor solar shutters. The fair this year took place at York University and was even covered by CBC and Global News! All of our RHMS students can be commended for their hard work and effort this year. They all did a wonderful job! The following students won a medal and/or award this year:

Grade 7
Kishan and Ethan received a bronze medal for their project on solar desalination.

Grade 8
Natalie. M and Aditi received a silver medal for their project on the optimal pH level for paramecium. 
 
Alya. F received a silver medal for her project on plants in motion.
 
Ariz. B received a gold medal and the Junior Innovation Award for his project on creating a diagnostic kit for detecting bruxism. Ariz will not only be representing RHMS, but also all of York Region at the Canada-Wide Science Fair from May 14th to May 19th in Regina. We wish him the best of luck!
