Where The Wild Things Are

Grade one students create an imaginary land in a five paragraph story.
During the month of March students in grade one had fun reading the story “Where the Wild Things Are.” This story about escape and adventure inspired students to create an imaginary land of their own in a five paragraph story. Students learned about all of the components of a paragraph including: indentation, topic sentence, three detail sentences and an ending sentence to complete a well-written description of their characters, setting, problem and solution. For an artistic treat, all the grade ones crafted the scene of their story in the form of a diorama. Cherish really enjoyed this project as she said it was something she has never done before! Aryo wanted to ensure his masterpiece was perfect by bringing in special ribbon and paper.

All the grade ones did a wonderful job in creating their beautiful imaginary lands.
