Grade 5 Students Conduct Electricity with Logics Academy
RHMS Grade 5 classes were visited by Logics Academy for an exciting workshop on electricity. Students learned about conductors and insulators, mapping different electrical devices, and how adding elements in a circuit changes its resistance in a unique way. They wired a speaker to a pencil so that their drawings would come to life with sound! They created a working piano by drawing it out on paper and then using their pencil on it to make the notes come to life. Depending on the length and width of their drawing, the pitch would sound higher or lower based on the amount of resistance and therefore conductivity. They also experimented their pencils on skin, a screw, an eraser, and copper wire to determine which materials were the best conductors. The three Grade 5 classes had a lot of fun with this electrifying lesson!
