Ever wonder about the journey your food donations take to end up on the tables of families in need? The Richmond Hill Liberal York Region newspaper followed two items from Richmond Hill Montessori and Elementary Private School’s Winter Food Drive as they made their way from donor to recipient. Our Student Council members began by donating a can of beans and a can of soup. From there, LifeCorps Food Share picked up the items to be processed through their Vaughan warehouse before distribution to a wide variety of food banks. Our students’ donations were delivered to the Newmarket Food Pantry on December 12th where the can of soup and can of beans were picked up by two different clients there. “I am really, really fortunate to be at this school, and fortunate for everything we have and food,” our Student Council President said. “I think a lot of people are not realizing that tons and millions and millions of people are suffering from poverty and not getting food on the table for their families,” our Student Council Vice President added.
