Catapulting into Wednesday

Grade 5 and 6 Students Try Their Hand at Science Olympics

Grade 5 and 6 students have taken up the Olympian challenge, brainstorming and building their way towards house points! Grade 5 students had to build a complex suspension bridge strong enough to support a large mass, while the Grade 6 students had to build a catapult that propelled a 1-inch clay ball forward. Students used a wide array of building materials including clay, plastic spoons, popsicle sticks, and more. The Science Olympics taught students to come up with complex physics solutions to practical problems and to think quickly on their feet in these timed challenges. Stay tuned for the Grade 7s and 8s, our final Olympians, to take on the last Olympic building challenges.
