Ground Control to Room 105

Montessori Preschoolers are Taken Aboard the International Space Station

RHMS Montessori students were visited by a space robotics engineer in class today! Room 105’s special guest taught the children about Canada’s amazing contributions to space robotics. Pictures of the space robots that Canada has built as well as space badges were shared with the class. Students learned two new words, “gravity” and “weightlessness”. The children were then able to catch a glimpse inside the International Space Station in a video where Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield demonstrated how to brush your teeth with zero gravity in space! Students were amazed to learn how their simple everyday tasks had to be performed so differently in space, connecting their new knowledge to the real world around them. Thank you to our guest speaker for the exciting talk, so many young minds were inspired!
