RHMS Doesn’t Need a Garage to Start a Band

Students in grades four to eight use their composition skills to create their own music to end the year.

As the school year comes to an end, music students are showcasing their music theory and technology skills.

The grade four students are creating ABA form compositions, to supplement their knowledge gained throughout the year of this popular musical structure. Additionally, grade five students are creating Rondo form compositions, and grade six students will round out the form unit by creating compositions that represent the form of Theme & Variations.

As for the senior grades, the grade sevens are coming off of their Film Score unit, and are now formulating their own Spoken Word pieces, while the grade eights are reflecting on their final year at RHMS through creating musical Time Capsules. These capsules encompass all the events and emotions that made grade eight such a memorable year.

All students are using GarageBand to create their music, and look forward to sharing their final compositions with their classmates during the last week of school. Ms. Meharchand is proud of what the students have created, and can’t wait to hear their musical ideas come to life!
