Buzz About Bees: A Bee's Importance to Environment
Children learn about bees and nature at Pinefarms Orchard
Montessori students enjoyed a trip to Pinefarms Orchard in King City, earlier this month.
The children participated in the Busy Bee Program, which included a guided nature walk through the orchard, flower garden and woodland trails, as well as spring-time farm care -- from fertilization, pruning of trees, to planting.
The Busy Bee Program also features discussions about the farm’s location on the Oak Ridges Moraine; seed colour and shapes; and the importance of honey bees and their value to the orchard and environment as a whole.
