Fall science fun

Preschoolers study the changing colours of leaves

Montessori students used real leaves to simulate the colour changing process.

Conducting an experiment involving a coffee filter, alcohol and broken down plants, preschoolers watched as the chemical composition and pigments of the leaves changed.

This experiment mimics how chlorophyll in the leaves breaks down in the fall, allowing other colours to emerge, like red, orange and yellow.
