Grade 3s program robots usings variables
Ms. Youkhana 's grade 3 students participated in an innovative Logics Academy workshop.
The workshop focused on the fundamentals of coding, analyzing patterns, and how variables can be used to program patterns.
Students kicked off the activity by solving equations, applying their knowledge using Lego and worksheets, and then advancing to the DASH robot to program movements.
The workshop allowed students to: recognize that a pattern follows a rule; identify apparent features of the pattern that are not explicit in the rule itself; understand that a variable is a value that can change; and dentify the rule for a pattern.
