Students at Richmond Hill Montessori Private School had an opportunity to visit the David Dunlop Observatory -- the largest telescope in Canada.
The tour allowed Grade 5s to experience astronomy through an indoor planetarium, and to study stars at this cultural heritage site.
Students left the tour with a craft project, A Moon Gazers Guide and/or a Star Finder.
According to the Town of Richmond Hill, "the Observatory was at the forefront of Canadian astronomical research. Achievements at the site included advances in radio astronomy and the first direct evidence that Cygnus X-1 was a black hole."
