Mathematics of Motion

Grade 7 classes are modelling the path of a thrown tennis ball and calculating the maximum height.

Using iPads to record their throw in slow motion, timers and known variables, students are calculating the heights the ball reaches and comparing it against their predictions.

This experiment is allowing Grade 7s to use data derived from experimentation to calculate numerical averages and values.
