Jack and the (Recyclable) Beanstalk

RHMS grade two students saw fairytales come alive during Science Olympics, with a challenge straight out of a fantasy book!

Using recyclable materials, such as cardboard tubes, cups, and sticks, children were tasked to create the tallest and most stable "beanstalk" for Jack to climb.

Grade twos were divided into groups, and had an opportunity to investigate aspects like, what makes structures sturdier than others? This challenge also allowed students to apply teamwork, design and math skills.
