Montessori Weather Making Clouds

Montessori students have been learning about various seasonal changes through different science experiments, such as discovering how leaves change colours by  losing  their chlorophyll as well as studying the life cycle of an apple. They also had the chance to explore clouds and rain in a hands-on and engaging way!

Don’t you love looking at the clouds in the sky? The children used water, shaving cream and food colouring to simulate rain falling through the clouds during a rainstorm. The shaving cream represented the clouds in the sky and the water represented the air.  As the coloured water saturated the “clouds”, the heaviness allowed the “rain” to fall into the jar and through the “air”.   They were so excited to create their own cloudburst in the classroom!
