Breaking The Code

RHMS Grade 8 students are taking their first steps into the world of biotechnology.  Students extract DNA from strawberries and are becoming hands on experts in genetics. Cells are the basic unit of life and make up all plants, animals and bacteria. DNA is a molecule that contains the instructions that direct the activities of all the cells in our body.  You’ve probably learned or heard about DNA, but have you ever seen it? With the Strawberry DNA experiment, students extract, isolate, and observe the DNA of a strawberry in a matter of minutes.
