RHMS Celebrates International Day Of Women And Girls In Science

On February 11th, the world celebrates International Day of Women and Girls in Science.  This day was established by the United Nations Internationally to recognize the critical role women and girls play in science and technology.

All RHMS Grade 7 and 8 students will be participating in a virtual Science Expo to share their projects and showcase their ideas. Some of the amazing topics exhibited by our female students include how to build an effective electromagnetic lock-in compartment for packages, preventing porch pirates; how to amplify and increase the concentration of sound through surgical masks to determine which acoustic mirror is the most successful in reflecting and focusing on sound waves; how to make a cost effective portable water purification system with a substance that will make the pH and TDS levels of the water most clean; and how different materials used to wrap foods compare in terms of their ability to keep the food clean from airborne moisture to keep the body safe and healthy.

Here at RHMS we believe in preparing each of our students with the tools and the mindset to explore and navigate the world around them. Through hands-on-learning and an inquiry-based approach to STEM, we hope to see them grow into confident and assertive leaders and role models for future generations. Best wishes to everyone participating!
