Investigating Photosynthesis And Cellular Respiration
RHMS Grade 7 students investigated the effects of light intensity on the rate of photosynthesis of algae beads. Students set up algae beads and placed them at different distances from a light source.
Using a colour-metric indicator solution, students determined which algae beads were able to photosynthesize faster than others by the change in colour of the solution. They also set up a dark condition with no lighting to see what process algae beads will undergo and were pleasantly surprised by the results.
