The York Region Science and Technology Fair

The York Region Science and Technology Fair, also known as YRSTF, is an exciting opportunity for youth in York Region to share their scientific research with their peers, community, and experts in their field.  

RHMS would like to acknowledge our outstanding students who participated this year and have taken home medals, special awards and prizes for their innovative work.

Silver Medal Winners

Bronze Medal Winners

Grade 8 student Mia.H also won a one week registration at York University’s Spark Lab Program 2022 for her Assistive Parkinson's Smartbrush project.

Grade 7 student Sophie.Z also won 4 tickets to Ripley’s Aquarium and the $100 Vernadsky Award. This award is presented in honour of the scientific endeavors of Russian-Ukrainian scientist Vladimir Vernadsky whose works have contributed to geology, geography, geosphere, biosphere and noosphere. It is given to the project that reflects ideas that best support sustainable development for her Smart Automatic Watering System project.

Honourable Mentions

Grade 8 student Sierra.R won 4 tickets to Ripley's Aquarium for her Lifesaver Launch-guard project.

RHMS Senior Science Teacher Ms. Vanessa Quidayan was selected for a teacher recognition prize and received a Brault & Bouthillier gift certificate.

We would like to acknowledge alumni Pauline.B for continuing her Science Fair project from when she attended RHMS. Pauline won a Gold medal, a $300 Dr. Ray Clement Environment Award and she will be participating in the Canada Wide Science Fair for making bioplastic PPE.
