The DNA Heist

Before winter break, RHMS Grade 8 STEM students participated in a top mission; The DNA Heist. The mission was to safely extract and isolate DNA from the strawberry using simple household ingredients such as dishwashing liquid, salt and rubbing alcohol. 

 

The students had fun with the experiment. Using the ingredients listed above, the goal was to release the DNA and draw out the pulp from the strawberry so it can be poured into the test tube for observation in class.
