Every Child Matters

This year RHMS honoured Orange Shirt Day on September 30th. This day raises awareness about the residential school system in Canada, and is an opportunity to work towards reconciliation with First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples through sharing the truth and learning from the past. Students were invited to wear an orange shirt, and participate in activities and discussions, to learn about the history of residential schools. We focused on the importance of feeling valued and making sure people around us feel valued, to spread the central message of Orange Shirt Day: ‘Every Child Matters’.
