To wrap up their month-long study on the solar system, RHMS Montessori students dug deeper into planet Earth! They discovered that Earth is made of rock and metal. We live on the thinnest layer which is called the crust. The thickest layer is the mantle. The deeper you dig, the hotter it gets. The outer core is filled with magma and the centre of the Earth is as hot as the sun! Did you know that magma is called lava when it shoots out of a volcano? Our preschoolers had lots of fun exploring space.
