Exploring Geoscience

RHMS Grade 7 students explored geoscience processes that have changed Earth’s surface at varying time and spatial scales. Their lesson included three experiments. The first experiment included a model of an earthquakes and landslides using sand and water in a bucket. The second experiment explored how acidity in rainwater can result in dissolution of limestone and the final experiment included the colliding and sliding of tectonic graham cracker plates as they moved over the Earth's mantle made of icing. The students were able to develop a deeper understanding of the process of science and how to develop their skills in class.
