Weston Youth Innovation Award Winner

Ontario Science Centre celebrates six Canadian youths for innovative science projects. Young Canadians around the country are leveraging their STEM knowledge from science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and using technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to address a range of issues, from environmental science to healthcare.

We are excited to announce that former RHMS student Katia M. won the second-place prize of $8,500 for the Ontario Science Centre’s Weston Youth Innovation Award. Her submitted Science Expo Project focused on a machine-learning system that sorts recyclable materials by sound.

A virtual ceremony is scheduled for the winners on Tuesday, June 24th, 2021 where Katia will be on a panel discussing her work. We would like to send congratulations and best wishes to Katia with all of her future endeavours!
