Totality Cool

RHMS students were excited to be a part of history as they prepared for this week’s Solar Eclipse. The children learned how the moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, briefly turning day into night during this natural phenomenon.

This rare event was celebrated by engaging the students in educational activities such as designing creative eclipse visuals, visiting the NASA website to track the eclipse and learn fun facts, watching informative videos and most importantly, learning about how to protect our eyes to stay safe when a Solar Eclipse is occurring.

Our STEM department started collecting lightly used, undamaged, certified Solar Eclipse glasses to donate to children in South America. Not only will our RHMS students be reducing waste, but we will be allowing the children in Latin America to enjoy the next partial Solar Eclipse in August of this year!
