Honouring Terry Fox At RHMS

RHMS Grade 2 to 4 students came together to participate in the Terry Fox Run, reflecting on the legacy of a Canadian hero whose courage, perseverance and determination continue to inspire people around the world.

As part of their Language curriculum, the students’ first writing project this term was a research- based piece about Terry Fox.  Through this unit, the students developed literacy and research skills while exploring important character traits and learning how one person’s determination can make a lasting difference in the lives of others.

To further connect their classroom learning with real life experiences, the students participated in the run and collected donations in support of cancer research.  Thanks to the generosity of our school community, the students almost doubled their fundraising goal of $750!

Honouring Terry Fox brought learning to life, inspired students through thoughtful writing and reinforced the values of compassion and community spirit.
