In Sound Through Storm and Stillness, our ensembles explore the full spectrum of musical expression — from the quiet beauty of lyrical melodies to the intensity of stormy drama. This evening showcases the growth of our Grade 6 through Honour Band students, along with our Senior Choir, as they interpret works that capture both calm reflection and powerful energy.
The Grade 6 Band, now in their second year of playing, opens with vibrant and playful selections that show their growing confidence.
The Grade 7 Band brings darker colours and bold challenges, while the Senior Choir offers a set of contrasting folk, magical, and pop-inspired songs.
The Grade 8 Band highlights maturity through lyrical phrasing and modal strength, leading into the Honour Band’s finale. Their set — from the freshness of Spring to the stormy drama of The Tempest and the grandeur of Pictures at an Exhibition — embodies the evening’s theme: music’s ability to move between turbulence and tranquility, storm and stillness.
