York University Research

RHMS Grade 7 & 8 classes enjoyed a workshop run by PhD students from York University.  Our presenters taught our students about the real world research they are currently involved in pursuing in their program at York's School of Kinesiology and Health Science.  They then led our students through the steps of the scientific method as they had the opportunity to design and carry out an experiment on the topic of muscle strength and fatigue. The students enjoyed the opportunity to work with dynamometers, a tool which measures hand-grip strength.

This workshop reinforced all of the key concepts which students need to understand in order to design and carry out their own individual Science Expo projects which they are currently working on.
