Toronto Zoo Excursion

RHMS Grade 4 students recently enjoyed an exciting excursion to the Toronto Zoo, where they spent the day exploring the many incredible animals that call the zoo home.  As they moved through the various exhibits, the students observed different species up close, gaining a deeper appreciation for wildlife and the diverse habitats in which animals live.

The students participated in an engaging in-class program that supported their learning about biodiversity within species, habitats, and communities.  They gained knowledge on how different environments provide the essential resources species need to survive, and learned about the genetic traits that help animals adapt to their surroundings.  They also examined how animals are categorized based on their diets, such as herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores.

The combined classroom and real world learning experience offered our Grade 4 students a meaningful opportunity to connect their STEM Curriculum with the natural world, fostering an understanding and respect for the biodiversity that surrounds us.
