RHMS Grade 7 students recently enjoyed an educational trip to Ripley’s Aquarium. During their self-guided visit, the students had full access to the aquarium for the day, including their hands-on Discovery Centre.
As part of the visit, the students participated in curriculum connected programs focused on the effects of environmental disasters on marine ecosystems. Through a simulated oil spill activity, they evaluated the efficiency of various clean up methods and predicted the short and long term impacts of an oil spill.
This experience was a meaningful way for students to interact with the environment, fostering awareness, curiosity, and a deeper sense of responsibility for our planet’s ecosystems.
