Simple Machines

The grade ones are learning about simple machines in science class. So far, the children have investigated the lever, the inclined plane and the wheel and axle.  With thanks to The Kid’s Fun Factory, the students had a chance to learn about even more simple machines!

The most memorable part of this in-class workshop was working with pulleys.  First, the children worked in small groups to lift a load using a fixed pulley.  Then, the children worked really hard pulling their classmates around the room using a huge pulley system!  The children discovered that pulling a load is easier when there is more than one pulley.  Cool!
