Growing In Lengths

The grade one class grow to great lengths in Math class.
The grade ones have begun their Linear Measurement Math Unit. They are learning about estimating, and measuring using different object, using a variety of measuring tools (rulers, cubes, their fingertips etc.) Students got very involved in their fun ‘tulip’ craft, where they measured the stem of their tulip using their feet. Students then used a ruler to measure how long their stem was. The grade ones are continuing to enjoy measuring objects around their classrooms and their households. The most exciting part of this unit, has definitely been measuring each other using yarn and a meter stick.  Once they measured each other, we used the yarn and attached a picture of their faces to the tops of them.

The grade one class are certainly going to grow to great lengths.
