Grade Five Students Play The Blues

Throughout the month of March, the Grade 5 students have been learning about jazz techniques. Combining their instrumental ability with improvisational skill, the students were able to transform the classroom into a jazz bistro, complete with costumes, smooth blues, and solo opportunities. Students were also able to experiment with “found sounds”, which allowed these young musicians to make music out of everyday objects. Students enjoyed transforming classical rhythms into a “swung” style, and are looking forward to the continuation of jazz improv in the near future!
