Sharks, Jellyfish, And Pigs In The Classroom?

Grade Five students become taxonomists in the science lab.
As an introduction to their next unit in science, grade 5 students were visited by a zoologist from Scientists in the School. The students learned about taxonomy and how different organisms are classified using a tree diagram. They got to examine specimens of vertebrates and invertebrates from the animal kingdom and used micro viewers to observe the microscopic world of protists and monerans.

In the end, all the students were able to classify the organisms based on their different characteristics and some even got over their fear of handling a shark!
