RHMS Students Place Second and Third in Statistics Canada Competition
In honour of Canada’s 150th birthday, Statistics Canada set out to recognize the next generation of storytellers and statisticians with their nation-wide contest, “My Story in Numbers”. Students were invited to submit a visual representation of statistics that told a story about Canada. Intermediate students in Mrs. Rafferty’s Math class placed second and third respectively in the nation-wide contest! Grade 8 student Jordan K. won for their drawing “Aboriginal Man” and Grade 7 student Alysha S. won for their video “Story of Millions: The Everyday Life of Toronto”. Their amazing stories were told using real statistics from Statistics Canada. The winning students will be interviewed by a representative from Statistics Canada and both won monetary awards and Canada 150 swag baskets. Our students will also be featured in a special online article on the Statistics Canada blog Connecting Stats, Stories and People, on January 29, 2018. Congratulations!
