Rock Cycle Investigation

RHMS grade seven students are conducting a rock cycle investigation.

Students considered a series of processes, including: weathering; erosion and deposition; formation of sedimentary rock; formation of metamorphic rock; and formation of igneous rock. Upon determining the process, grade sevens performed their experiments.

To help understand these processes, students used crayon as "rocks," creating sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous crayons through heating, cooling, and compressing.

Grade sevens also noted conversion - rocks can change from one type to another depending on the environment's conditions.
