The beginning of the academic year brought some creative talents for the start of art class at RHMS. Each grade level from grades 3 through 8 contributed to a collaborative style art game or final piece.
Each grade went on an artistic adventure using electronics and art materials to create their showpieces. Grade 3 students had fun using Google to guess their drawings using the online game “Quick Draw” while the Grade 4’s designed a large popsicle stick that when pieced all together, formed a weaving or quilted effect of colours, shapes and patterns.
Using the summer break as a theme the Grade 5 students scratched their art onto a rainbow or glitter scratchy square that were displayed together for a cool contrast style piece. The Grade 6 class drew their memories on a post-it note to display together in a POP mini gallery.
The Grade 7 and 8 students participated in the “Exquisite Corpse” collaborative drawing game which evolved from artists from the Surrealist Art Movement. It had them getting creative with one another without seeing previous sections of each final drawing.
Many of the final pieces will be displayed throughout the art room during Term 1 as a reminder of how working together creatively can yield some cool masterpieces!
